KohR Motorsports Wins at Mid-Ohio
It was a battle of the Ford Mustang GT4s, racing on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels, to claim the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class victory, during IMSA’s May 5 Mid-Ohio 120, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The #8 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, driven by Patrick Gallagher and Chad McCumbee, started Saturday’s race from the pole position. But with three minutes remaining in the race, Kyle Marcelli caught and passed Gallagher with his #60 KohR Motorsports Mustang GT4, co-driven by Nate Stacy. It looked as though Marcelli had stolen the win, until the final lap, when the #60 KohR Mustang was running out of fuel and losing power. In the final turns, Marcelli and Gallagher battled side-by-side, until Marcelli’s #60 Mustang mustered enough mojo to pull ahead, at the very end, to claim the checkered flag! Gallagher’s #8 Mustang finished close behind in second.
The win at Mid-Ohio was the second consecutive victory for the KohR Motorsports’ #60 Mustang, having also won the March race at Sebring. Congrats to the KohR Motorsports and Multimatic Motorsports teams for an outstanding showing, at Mid-Ohio, and thanks for trusting Forgeline to carry the load!
They will return to action, along with the rest of the IMSA Continental Ture Sports Car Challenge field, on June 28-30 for the Continental 240 at the Glen, at Watkins Glen International Raceway.
