Forgeline Teams Sweep IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge GS at Road America

It was a mix of incredible driving, reliable teamwork, and smart fuel strategy that helped Forgeline-equipped teams sweep the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge GS race at Road America.

The Forgeline sweep was led by the No.71 Rebel Rock Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels, driven by Frank Depew and Robin Liddell. The Rebel Rock Camaro qualified in the 17th starting position, but smooth driving by Frank allowed Robin to take over in the 13th position, which was all Robin needed to charge toward the front. With eight minutes left in the race, Robin had already stopped for fuel in the Rebel Rock Camaro, when the leading BMW’s were forced to pit for fuel, leaving Robin in 6th place. Over the remaining 8 minutes, Robin continued to systematically pick his way toward the front, ultimately crossing the finish line in second place. However, a rules infraction by the winning Mercedes-AMG led to a disqualification and moved the Rebel Rock Camaro into first place.

This finish order adjustment also meant that two Ford Mustang GT4s on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels also moved up on the podium. The third place No.59 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 driven by Bob Michaelian and Luca Mars was moved into second place, and the fourth place No.13 McCumbee McAleer Racing with AEROSPORT Ford Mustang GT4 driven by Jenson Altzman and Chad McCumbee was moved onto the podium for third place.

Congrats to Frank, Robin, Ben, Luca, Jenson, Chad, and the entire Rebel Rock Motorsports, KohR Motorsports, & McCumbee McAleer Racing teams. And thanks for trusting Forgeline to carry the load!

The entire Michelin Pilot Challenge series returns to action again on Saturday, August 26, with the Virginia Is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix at VIRginia International Raceway.
